Seven Stories

Hannah Lambert

Marketing and Digital Coordinator

It is always a delight to work with Holly Sterling. Her events are well received, perfectly pitched and brilliantly delivered whether that is for college age students interested in illustration or families looking for an inspiring event with their children...Holly is professional, enthusiastic and creative which is reflected in her manner with families as well as being passionate about sharing the art of children’s literature.

Walker Books

Picture Book Team

Holly is such a friendly, warm and uplifting speaker who engages with children, teenagers and adults so memorably and with such heart. We have been lucky to see her in action on two occasions now – at our sales conference in London, and at the launch of her picture book, KARATE KIDS, in Sunderland, which had an audience of 150 strong. At both events, she had everyone up on their feet, learning blocks and punches.

After our conference, we even had members of staff taking up karate for the first time, or dusting off their old karate suits! Holly has an amazing story – not only has she competed in international karate competitions, she now inspires the next generation of athletes as a Sensei. And, of course, she writes and illustrates, too!

So her huge talent and many achievements make her an incredibly captivating speaker. She makes everybody around her feel that they, too, can achieve anything they put their minds to.

Everyone was having such a good time we didn't want the session to end. We would love to have Holly visit our school again and I would highly recommend her to
all schools.

Northern Children's Book Festival

Parent

My daughter is quite shy but she enjoyed every minute of Holly’s session. She could relate to Holly’s own personal background and I’ve never seen her so focused on perfecting her drawing so she could show Holly and she even had the confidence to show the rest of the group.
A really lovely session!

Stannington First School

Deputy Head Teacher

What a fab day we all had! The children loved meeting Holly and were totally engrossed in her wonderful storytelling and drawing sessions. She inspired children who were reluctant to write, to rush back to class to write their own stories! Thanks for a truly wonderful day.

Pop Up Festival

Tim Stanton

Education Manager

Holly has been a pleasure to work with, running creative workshops for Pop Up Festival. Holly establishes such a quick and easy rapport with children, even when working online. She shows genuine interest in their ideas, supporting them to be creative in their own way. There is a real joy in the way that she demonstrates her karate and illustration skills that inspire all children to get involved and see themselves as artists, illustrators, storytellers and
martial artists!

South Tyneside Libraries

Jolene Dunbar

Community Librarian

Holly Sterling celebrated World Book Day 2020 with South Tyneside Libraries.

The school children who visited Cleadon Park and Jarrow Focus Libraries were enthralled by Holly and her inspiration for writing and illustrating Karate Kids.  Holly's encouragement with reluctant children for drawing their own Karate Kid was brilliant, children were queuing to show her their pictures.

Borders Book Festival

Paula Ogilvie

Director

Holly did a fantastic event with us...

She had lots of imaginative, accessible activities for her workshop on the wonderful 15 Things NOT to Do with

a Baby, and all of our budding young artists – and their grown-ups – had great fun... Holly was also lovely to work with, both easy -going yet very professional,

and we’d have her back ANY TIME!
